fragile

Things I know to be true:

-Life is too short
-And not fair
-Tequila and I do not a good combo make
-My mother can always make me smile

-Fish don't live forever
-Neither do loved ones
-And they are often taken away way, way too soon
-Lindsey Lohan is out of control. Seriously.
-You can rarely find flights to the West Coast for as sweet of a deal as I recently did
-Divorce can really complicate things within a family

-Watching someone close to you go through something awful, and not being able to make it better for them is really heartbreaking
-Candles always make things seem a little better for me
-A good dose of sun can do wonders for the soul
-Some people just really want someone to listen. Like the little old lady that I visited tonight.
-The saying "things happen for a reason," as much as I try and use it/believe it/live it, does not always make sense.

I have never beleived that "things happen for a reason". Sometimes, life isn't fair. Period.

Seriously when is LaLohan gonna just do herself in? She is a wreck.

No Tequilla? Not even in Margaritas?

Hi sweetie,

I hope that things are ok on your end. Another thing you should know to be true is you've got friends in the blogosphere who care about you!

megabrooke said...

am- amen. but i still try to believe it.

eb- well you have heard the latest, with the car crash, dui, pass out scene, right? she's a mess.
maybe a margarita... here and there. there's a place down the street with real yummy ones.

airam- that means SO much more than you can imagine. thank you:)

um how sweet of a deal to the west coast? Share please!

I always notice I find it really easy to believe 'everything happens for a reason' when it's GOOD things, but when it's something bad, I doubt everything. I hope to break that habit! And as for Lindsay, sigh. It's like Tara Reid has a better dressed little sister. I think she just needs some hugs, a few naps in and a few days with my mom to set her straight.

One addtion :)
Some people are so willing to listen, its just that they dont have someone to listen to.

or is it
They are so willing to listen because they dont have someone to listen to..

A little confusing :)

"The saying "things happen for a reason," as much as I try and use it/believe it/live it, does not always make sense." I totally and completely agree with you on this.

And the tequila...well, we are going to have to change that.

This was destined to be a nice post.

And then you mentioned Lindsey.

m- a plane ticket for under $300! which is better than ive seen in a while.

brandy- i agree... it's so easy to believe that when it's good stuff. hard, very hard, when it's bad, bad crap. i bet your mom would set lindsey straight. as would mine.

rambler- you just confused the hell out of me! sorry. this precious lady is in her 70's, her hubby (who she started "going with" in 8th grade!), passed away a little over a year ago. so i guess i meant, she's lonely, and all she really wants is someone to chat with and hear her story.

brooke- of course you agree! tequila and me had a falling out around spring break in college. ahh.

double a- i know. i went there. she's just so sad.

Tequila straight up is good for no-one girl - a perfect margarita though is a slice of heaven.

I'm not sure if you're going through a difficult time right now or just reflecting on one - either way, try hard to look for the good in all things, no matter how dificult it is too find. Try to touch another person in a positive way. Airam is right...here in bloggerville, you are not alone.

Vodka is my no-no drink. That shit messes with me and one whiff of it and my mouth starts getting that weird metallic feel to it.

I like this list - the serious stuff thrown in with the light stuff makes it relateable (did I just make up a word?) Hope you're doing OK.

megabrooke said...

m- i meant to say too, welcome back!! i've missed your blogging. dearly.

chris- thank you for your kind words. i appreciate it.
maybe ill treat myself to a margarita soon. just no lime, salt combos. blegh.

arm- i use relatable, damn right. and thank you.
that metallic feeling, ugh... yuck. i hear you. makes your mouth water, right? around these parts we say "it's raining in my mouth" to describe the feeling.

So where are you going on the west coast?

As for things happening for a reason....it's just harder to see the reason at first with bad things; it's often years later when we see how our character/understanding, etc. is shaped that we see the reason for our hardships, etc.

megabrooke said...

ally- just reno again in late august. and you are totally right. sometimes it just takes some extra time to gain some perspective on things. hope you're enjoying your trip!!!

Hang in there! I'm not sure what I'm doing with my life. Not even the stress of med school can compare to this phase. Some days are better than others. And yeah, the blogosphere is a good support system!

You are a great list maker :)

The mention about the old lady makes me sad; it makes me think about the Notebook even though the husband was the one left in that movie. I'm glad that you were able to provide a listening ear. I think old people are so undervalued in our society. And they are so precious.

Sitting in the sun fixes just about everything for me.. Honestly.

Lindsey Lohan definately is in need of some serious help...I vote for sending that tabloid cover crew somewhere far away. Like the Sahara desert. Candle and sunshine are good for just about anything that ails!

Hi Brooke - First time here, but "Wow", what a list. I hope you don't mind if I come back, and I especially agree with the "tequila" comment.

anne said...

Yeah I am not surprised at all. And now she is in rehab. Uh huh sure.

I am with Ally - I think things happen for a reason. You may not be able to readily access that reason - but it will eventually happen.

I could so relate to this post and what you listed..beautiful..

How about...never cut your own hair..ha ha i learned the hard way

I think massages are like candles. Hey, I'm going to send you an email.

megabrooke said...

the egg- thank you! and thanks for visting:) and you hang in there too.

kimberly- i just love old people. they are completely precious. i have a degree in gerontolgy and dont get to use it in my current job, so visiting this little gem is a light in my week. (didn't they both die at the end of the notebook?)

bre- seriously! it's why i NEED to get out for a walk at lunch, daily.

rubes- the tabloids suck, i agree.

gsr- so happy you stopped by! hope you do come back. :)

eb- amen.

princess- im glad you could relate!

cadensmama- been there! woa.

egan- you love massages dont you? no happy endings with candles though.

Chris said...

Well said. I hope everything's okay....

Kimberly said...

I think you're right, they both died, but he got left first because she lost her memory. Right?

It's awesome that you are still using your degree even if it's not in your job. I like to think that even if I quit counseling I can still use what I've learned in this field.

I really just think things happen because they happen....if everything happened for a reason then God has a lot to keep track of. Seems awfully complicated. I prefer to think that we make things happen for ourselves.

egan said...

No happy ending with candles? Are you a prude or something. Come on woman, put that romance cap on there young lady.

I'm still waiting to have our chat about "skinkering". You started this blog for a reason.

megabrooke said...

mwn- thank you.

kimberly- i think you're right. that movie is SUCH a tearjerker. man.

mel- i do agree that we can sure play a role in how things turn out for ourselves.

eghan- we will have the skrinkering talk soon. that sounds dirty.

egan said...

It sounds dirty because it likely is dirty. I'm on to you B-Em.

A good dose of the sun and the sound of ocean waves crashing on the beach can totally put me at peace.

Lindsey Lohan is out of control? What would make you say such a thing? :) I guess rehab hasn't helped her at all.

megabrooke said...

egan- mind. gutter. it's not dirrty. not in *that* way.
actually, i could probably use it in that way. a post to come on the definition of the blog title.

beth- i know, because on any given weekend, i crash my mercedes?, get a dui, and then pass out in my vehicle. totally normal!

Clare said...

You are so right about Lindsay Lohan :).

armalicious said...

Yes! That watering feeling is the exact feeling that occurs with the metallic taste. Yuck.

So, do you speak with a Boston-ish accent? Because I can picture you saying "around these parts" with one. I adore accents.

Anonymous said...

i'm hoping that everything works out for you...

B said...

what I hear learned over the past few months is just as things become too overwhelming for me they slowly turn for the better. I have been constanly telling myself to think positive and it's starting to work

ya your right Lohan is out of control

megabrooke said...

clare- she's a total mess huh?

arm- my friends say i have one, mostly when talking to my family.

jeorg- thanks. lots.

b- good thinking. and i know.

I love a walk in the sun or simply sitting in it. There is something about it that does make the day seem that much brighter. ;) Amazing about the ticket. I have seen tickets to Vegas for good prices, but no where else on that side of the country.

There is definitely something about candles...
