wicked chaud and sticky

I'm sitting here in my undies and a tank top, drinking a glass of red wine on this dank night. Maybe that's more info that you needed or wanted. But damn is it hot. And humid. I want West Coast weather on days like this. When I go and visit my dad, it can be a day that's almost 100, but there, it's wicked dry and doesn't feel like 100. Here, 100 would be downright oppressive. Humid and buggy and sticky. Ick.

Tonight I went food shopping. (I call it food shopping, never grocery shopping) The little old lady at work tells me I should go in the mornings, to meet a "nice man." I really don't have time for that in the morning, but I'll tell you that at night, at 8PMish in the evening, not much really goes down at a local Shaws. I had most aisles to myself, except for a couple employees, teenage employees specifically, flirting with each other, putting random items away. Yogurts were 20/$10. Tell me, who buys that many yogurts? The deli guy was especially friendly, and I could tell under his hat that he had a good head of hair. I got flustered trying to decide what kind of turkey to get, and picking out bananas took me way too long.

Did I mention that my landlord finally said yes to a kitten?! You read that right. Holy hell, it's about time. And I couldn't be more excited. (I want no comments on my lack of skills in fish caretaking please!) So I'm on a mission. And let me just tell you, holding a kitten has been scientifically proven (based on my experimentation), to raise my day from a 4 to a 7.

Saturday I'm going to a baby shower for my college roommate. And at night I'm going to see Feist. Who's heard of her?

My grandmother is getting her second round of chemo tomorrow. She's feeling good right now, so it's hard to see her sign up to get this shit poison put into her precious body. But I guess it needs to do it's job, and we're hoping this time around the side effects won't be as rough. Friday I overheard her tell someone that I'm "her pride and joy," and I had myself a little moment right then and there.

I'm finding I'm watching way too much Lifetime as of late. With all the good shows off the air, really, what's a girl to do? TLC is also showing tons of Miami Ink which I just love, because of the time I met and got my picture taken with those studs. And the new season starts next week so at least that's something to look forward to.

And if this doesn't go down for one of the most scattered posts ever, I don't know what does.

I love Feist! I just got her new CD last month, and I had been waiting for it to come out! I hope you have fun ^_^

and I'm sorry about your Grandmother, I know it's so hard to watch someone you love so much suffer. With her pride and joy by her side, I'm sure she'll find the strength to overcome any hardships that may come her way.

airam- i will send some of the heat your way. not the stickiness because that's just nasty. and thank you.

Sending you some good thoughts about your grandmom (because like you and 'food shopping', I always have to say 'grandmom'). Those situations are always so difficult, but here's hoping things improve and like I told you before, she's lucky to have you!

As for Feist, I'm a fan! Wow. Between the milk drinking and Feist loving, we are like twins. But completely different. ;)

Chemo is hard to cope with as a bystander, but your grandmother will be strong! So will you!

Miami Ink rules. Even though I will never get a tattoo (terrified of needles and, frankly, I would rather buy shoes), if I were to get one, I'd want Chris Garver to do it. He's awesome

That's awesome about the cat! Hey, Egan - another one of your blog friends is a cat person! Ha! Ok, sorry about that, couldn't help myself. Anyway, I agree about holding a cat (and especially kittens - they are so adorable!) - they definitely brighten up a day and they help decrease blood pressure (true story).

Finally, I will be thinking positive thoughts for your grandmother (and you and your family) as well. Chemo is tough for not only the patient, but for all of their loved ones too, as they go through the rounds. And what a wonderful thing to overhear her say! I would have lost it, too. Big hugs to you, Brookem!

Much much love to your grandma Meg...

Oh and send some of the heat our way too - we have the most crazy chameleonic weather here in Blighty at the moment. You get up in the morn ing to bright sunshine so you put shorts and a shirt on. Then when you step out of the house it's peeing down with rain so you go and change. By midday it's like the sahara again and then by hometime it's raining again. Four seasons in one day...

I can symapahtize with the humidity. The summers can here in the South are extremely humid, too.

I had no idea that the hot guys went grocery shopping in the morning. This could be why I am still single!

Let me know when you get a kitten! Yay!

I hope things go well with your grandmother.

The worst part of Eastern summers is that humidity. This year it started so early... why!! What did we do to deserve that! (Today is fabulous though, thank you Northern cold front)

Great news about the cat. I have a feline gang. You are right, there is something about touching a cat that can make any day better. And when they purr...

My thoughts are with you and your grandmother!! Stay strong.

I never heard of Fiest. Hmmmmmm

I will keep you grandma in my prayers.

Nunez...Nunez would be bad for me. I am attracted to the gorgeous Latino manly man type. But I know, just by how he is portrayed in that show, that he would be tres bad for me. I'll stick with Garver. Kat cracks me up, but I missed the episode where she got fired.

I hope your trips to the humane society pay off and you find a kitten!

Clearly you're scattered brain because damn was this post all over the place. I like how the chemo is sandwiched between Miami Ink and Feist.

I've heard of Feist and love her voice. I think she's Canadian so that's a big plus too. I tell you food stores are where the men hide. All of them. I usually buy 10 yogurts at a pop, two per day. Um, 20 so people will be that many.. moves product faster.

The high in Seattle will 58, read it and weep young woman!

ARM, I think everyone that reads my blog has a cat. It's payback to talking smack about them, gnome sane?

Chris said...

I wish I had the freedom to lounge around in my undies - not with a daughter in the house though.

I still call it grocery shopping and occasionally, it's at the local shaw's. While it's not common, I have bought 20 yogurts at the $10 price.

Good luck with the kitty!

I'll think good thoughts for grandma.

Ah, I find such solace in the scattered post. :)
Seriously. Sometimes there are so many little things bogging down your thoughts, but nothing significant enough to write an entire post about -- the scattered post is the perfect outlet. :)

Sorry about your weather -- you should definitely head out to California, it's gorgeous right now. Where does your dad live?

megabrooke said...

the exception- it's finally nice out here today too. thank you for your kind words of support.

diva- well you heard it here. go check her out, she's the shit. and thank you.

arm- yeah, nunez has that bad boy thing goin on. and im down. i saw the one last night where kat got booted. im addicted to this show, can you tell? ami needs to lose his attitude. did you know they opened a bar in miami? road trip!

egan- it was all over the place for reals. she is from canada indeed, so love it. it's cooler here today thank you very much young man.

egan- meow.

chris- the benefits to being a single gal! you love yogurt, damn. thank you for your thoughts.

undercover celeb- the weather is actually better today. my dad lives in reno.

egan said...

It's grocery shopping dammit. Chris, admit it... you lounge in the buff all the time. Remember that picture you sent me? Come on now, don't play dumb with me.

Meow, right back at you Brookem.

megabrooke said...

egan- food shopping and that's the final answer. chris, is there something you want to tell us?

rubytuesdays said...

That was kinda random and scattered but that's ok. 1: I'm rooting for your grandma. 2: hot, humid and sticky is just gross and not needed. 3. Yay kitten!

egan said...

Fine, you win Brookem. I can't wait for Chris to see this. Is it bad I potentially outed him?

armalicious said...

Ami is an ass!!! He seriously needs an attitude adjustment - I would think he gets laid often enough, so I'm not sure what his problem is. But, who knows - maybe he doesn't get any boom-boom. Yes, I just typed "boom-boom". I love the show, too. We TiVo it.

Poor Egan, the blogging gods have blessed him with cat-owning readers. I love it.

The best to your grandma.

And good luck with the kitten. A lotta cute in a little package there.

Awww sweets good luck with grandma.
As for the weather - I got nothing. Hot humid and sticky is in my blood until probably October.

Brrrr said...

um ... you may want to re-think the west coast weather. rain rain and oh wait ... more rain in the forecast.

Every post should start off like that!
Why are the Miami Ink guys so hot? Is it the muscles, get what I want Alpha male thing? What ever happened to girls loving the whiney, out of shape, balding, broke guys who get headaches a lot?
BTW... I feel your pain w/ regards to Grandma. You are her pride and joy and having that bond is worthe the world. A lot of people go their whole lives never knowing what unconditional love and admiration feels like. Cherish the fortunate relationship you have with her! It's beautiful!!
What college did you go to?
